NERIAN SHARIF

Kashmir is, a region of stunning natural beauty, is not only famous for ice-packed mountains, lush green scenery and refreshinglypure waterfalls, lakes and rivers; it is also a place where many religious scholars and spiritual leaders of Islam traveled to preach the Islamic principles of faith, humanity and peace. One such leader is Khwaja Pir Ghulam Mohiuddin Ghaznavi, may Allah’s Mercy be upon him, who migrated to the mountainous and uninhabited land of Nerian Sharif in Azad Kashmir, at the command of his murshid (Khwaja Pir Qasim Mohrvi, may Allah’s Mercy be upon him), aiming to enlighten the area with the Message of Islam. Accompanied by his brother, Khwaja Pir Mohammad Durrab Khan, may Allah’s Mercy be upon him, their efforts and steadfastness for the Sake of Allah lead a vast amount of people to the Path of deen and the Way of the Beloved Prophet, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him.

Over the years, they established much-needed educational & spiritual discipline in the lives of thousands and, to this day, have left a legacy which impacts individual hearts and minds throughout the globe. It is reported that, through the power of the dhikr emanating from their enlightened hearts, this land which was once a wild and remote jungle began to generate echoes of Allah and Allahu.

With each day, more and more people traveled to visit these beloved Servants of Allah, and benefited from their Islamic teachings which were further strengthened by their practical example. Soon, by the Grace of Allah, this uninhabited land transformed into Darbar Nerian Sharif where every moment is now spent in dhikr (remembrance) and fikr (contemplation). Indeed, Almighty Allah says: “Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest!” [Qur’an 13:28]

Thousands upon thousands of people now visit the blessed darbar on a daily basis, seeking spiritual satisfaction and strength in imaan. The blessed center of Nerian Sharif is renowned for its powerful and heart-rending style of dhikr, and the secret contained in its langar (blessed food which is preyed upon and then distributed to all visitors). The unique standing of these trademarks of Nerian Sharif are primarily due to the practices of Khwaja Ghulam Mohiuddin Ghaznavi, whose dhikr and service in the langar khana (open kitchen) of his Shaykh originated from the core of his heart and changed the entire landscape, literally too in this case.

Every year, the annual Urs Mubarak is hosted by sajjada nasheen, Shaykh ul Aalam, Khwaja Mohammad Alauddin Siddiqui, and the lives of the two exemplary awliya of Nerian Sharif are commemorated; Khwaja Ghulam Mohiuddin Ghaznavi and his younger brother, Khwaja Mohammad Durrab Khan. Today, the resting places of these two beloved Men of Allah are visited by thousands across the globe, with daily flocks of visitors seeking the Mercy of Allah which rains down upon that sanctified mausoleum.

May Almighty Allah bless the sacred land of Nerian Sharif, and may He elevate further the status of its most noble and dignified saints, through the glorious countenance of His Beloved Messenger. May every heart which preserves love and respect of this great darbar be blessed with His Endless Mercy in both worlds. Ameen.
